Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin told the Assembly on Wednesday (March 26, 2025) that since the DMK assumed office in 2021, 72 new police stations and 23 fire and rescue services stations have been established in the State.

During the Question Hour, the Chief Minister, while responding to the queries of MLAs who sought new police and fire stations in various districts, assured them that the State government would consider their requests based on financial feasibility. Further, he said that during the discussion on the demand for grants for the Home Department, new announcements would be made regarding the MLAs’ demands.

Earlier, in response to Aranthangi MLA T. Ramachandran’s request for a new building for the fire and rescue services station in Aavudaiyarkovil, Mr. Stalin said that the State government has sanctioned ₹2.59 crore for the project. The Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation will begin its construction in May, and it will be completed by next year, he added.

He also said a parcel of land at Kangayampalayam village has been identified for the construction of a permanent building for a fire and rescue services station in Sulur in Coimbatore district. Steps are under way to transfer the ownership of land to the Fire and Rescue Services Department, and the construction will commence soon, he added.
