Nolanlites in India can breathe a sigh of relief as Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi masterpiece Interstellar has been granted a window for its re-release. The film, initially slated to return to Indian theatres in December last year, missed out on IMAX screens owing to the dominance of Pushpa 2: The Rule.

Squaring things up, Warner Bros. India posted on X on Friday, “The stars are aligning again! Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar returns to cinemas in India and also in IMAX on February 7. Relive the journey beyond time and space!”

The snub of Interstellar over Pushpa 2 for IMAX screens had sparked a debate on the taste of Indian viewers, with Bollywood actor Janhvi Kapoor offering her two cents on the controversy, questioning the cinephile community’s obsession with western directors.

Considered a modern classic, Interstellar narrates an epic yet intimate story about family and space exploration. The films stars Matthew McConaughey as a NASA space pilot alongside Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain Bill Irwin, Casey Affleck and others. Co-written by Nolan and his brother Jonathan, the film was nominated for five Academy Awards, winning in the best visual effects category.
