Senior India cricketer Virat Kohli’s hilarious antics on the cricket field went viral during Sunday’s clash between India and New Zealand in the Champions Trophy. Kohli, who is almost always a live-wire on the field, kept the mood light in India’s final group-stage match in the Champions Trophy, despite several nervy moments in the game.

Defending 249 runs against Mitchell Santner’s New Zealand, India was in a slight spot of bother when Kane Williamson was anchoring the innings for the Kiwis. Kohli kept the mood of the fielding unit light with his hilarious antics on the pitch.

The senior batter joked around with Shreyas Iyer, who had failed to grab hold of the ball while fielding inside the 30-yard circle. Shreyas Iyer, fielding at cover, lost sight of the ball while trying to collect it near his feet. He spun around in confusion, unable to locate the ball immediately. Fortunately, it had not travelled past him, but Iyer struggled to spot it quickly as he lost his balance.

In the following over, Virat Kohli approached Iyer and engaged in a humorous exchange. Kohli appeared to tease Iyer over his fielding mishap, playfully imitating his spin, leaving fans in splits.

Kohli Touches Axar’s Feet

India took full control of the match when Axar Patel was able to dismiss Kane Williamson in the 41st over of the game. With Williamson losing his wicket at 81, New Zealand was unlikely to turn the tide on a track that was extremely difficult to bat on.

Kohli ran to Axar in between the overs, touched his feet, and thanked the spinner for ensuring India’s victory in their last Champions Trophy group-stage game.
