Sunny Deol is currently promoting his upcoming film, ‘Jaat‘ with his co-star Randeep Hooda. In a promotional interview, the actor recently debunked the importance of method acting.
Dharmendra’s Versatile Roles and Easy Approach
When asked about how actors get into character, Sunny explained Bollywood Bubble that if you look at films from the 60s and 70s, including those of his father, Dharmendra, you’ll see the immense variety of roles he played. Despite making multiple films in a year, Dharmendra never overthought the process of getting into a character. Sunny emphasized that acting is an innate skill that some people have, and while tools and techniques help, true acting ability is something you either possess or don’t.The Real Focus: Understanding the Character
The actor continued by explaining that in the beginning, actors might think they need to follow a strict process or approach, but ultimately, it’s about understanding the character. He emphasized that the emotional aspects of a character are all around us, and we try to bring them to life on screen. He mentioned examples like Randeep Hooda, who had to lose weight for a role, but stressed that looking like the character isn’t the main focus. The real challenge is understanding and feeling what that person went through and why they acted the way they did.
Sunny Deol Reflects on His ‘Border‘ Role
Recalling his experience filming Border, Sunny Deol reflected on the challenge of delving into the depth of his character. He explained that understanding the character’s actions and motivations was key for him, especially while playing a Chandpuriji. He didn’t focus on the technical aspects of the character’s actions but rather immersed himself in the role. For him, acting was about connecting with the essence of the character rather than getting lost in the details of how others may have portrayed it.

In conclusion, Sunny Deol shared that once an actor fully immerses themselves into a role, they often lose track of their own identity and may wonder how they became so deeply involved. He emphasized that while external adjustments are made for the audience’s sake, the true impact of acting comes from within, leaving the actor feeling exhausted but fulfilled by the experience.
