May 2025 will be a noteworthy month for Ishaan Khatter because of two remarkable projects: his upcoming television series ‘The Royals’ and his Cannes-bound movie ‘Homebound’. Ishaan, however, revealed the drastic bodily changes he had to undergo in order to play his most recent movie part.

Ishan Khattar pushed physical and emotional limits

The actor revealed in a recent interview with Hindustan Times that he had less than two months to get ready for Neeraj Ghaywan’s ‘Homebound’ after finishing filming The Royals. The difficulty? To portray his character in the intensely emotional drama, he shed ten pounds. After finishing ‘The Royals’, I dove into Homebound less than two months later. Ishaan clarified, “I had to shed ten kilogrammes and get into the character by shedding skin.”
The actor described the chaotic time between the two productions as a time of intense self-reflection and creative development. “It was really my moment to take it all in after everything I had experienced with these two characters and myself,” he said. Ishaan claimed he had “so much fun” playing both parts despite the tough shift and expressed hope that the effort would pay off.
Ishaan also called director Neeraj Ghaywan “the most deserving” of praise, expressing his sincere admiration. He said he felt honoured to be a part of Homebound, calling it a “special” effort. One of the highlights of his career to date has been his partnership with Ghaywan, who is renowned for his delicate and subtle storytelling.

‘Homebound’

‘Homebound’ will make its debut at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, which will take place from May 13 to May 24, 2025, in the prestigious Un Certain Regard section. Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor are also featured in the movie, and their combined performances should be strong.
After its theatrical release, ‘Homebound’ will be available for streaming on Netflix, giving viewers everywhere the chance to witness Ishaan’s life-changing performance.

‘The Royals’

Ishaan will appear on screen in ‘The Royals’ as Aviraaj Singh, a young prince negotiating royal intrigue. The series, which co-stars Bhumi Pednekar, will debut on May 9 and offer fans a blend of magnificence and drama.
