Young cricketer’s household in Karnataka loses over ₹24 lakh to cyber fraudsters posing as IPL selectors-OxBig News Network

A younger cricketer’s household misplaced over ₹24 lakh to cyber fraudsters who falsely promised to incorporate him a IPL group.

Fraudsters posing to be brokers of the IPL Team Rajasthan Royals, contacted Rakesh Yadure (19), an aspiring cricketer of Chinchani village close to Chikkodi in Belagavi district. He acquired messages on Instagram, praising his abilities and providing him a spot within the IPL group.

This adopted his efficiency in a State-level cricket match held in Hyderabad in May 2024. The message made him imagine that cricket committee selectors have been current throughout the Hyderabad match. Rakesh acquired this message from a deal with named ‘Sushant_srivastava1’, 4 months after the match. But he believed it anyway. It mentioned: “We will add you to the Rajasthan team. Fill out this application form and send 2,000 rupees.” Rakesh crammed out the shape.

By April 19, 2025, the fraudsters made his household switch ₹23,53,550 on-line. They promised him match charges of ₹4.8 lakh per match. The fraudsters vanished with no hint, after taking the cash. Rakesh’s father is a safety guard within the KSRTC. He took loans from varied folks to pay up. The household approached the police later. A case has been registered on the district cyber crime police station and investigations are on.

SP Bheemashankar S Guled has warned the folks to not fall prey to such frauds. “No one should fall victim to the network of fraudulent messages that come online.”
