Life threat to PMK functionaries supporting Ramadoss: MLA Arul-OxBig News Network

Salem West MLA R. Arul from Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has alleged that there is a threat to the lives of PMK functionaries including him, for supporting the party founder Dr. S. Ramadoss.

Responding to allegations raised by former Union Minister Anbumani Ramadoss against his father and PMK founder S. Ramadoss, Mr. Arul told the media on Sunday (June 29, 2025) that for the last two years, Dr. Ramadoss was unable to come out of the Thailapuram residence.

Mr. Anbumani claimed that Dr. Ramadoss was acting like a child for the last five years and giving postings to people with criminal records and roadside vendors. “If that was true, Dr. Ramadoss made Anbumani the party president three years ago. How was it valid?,” he asked.

“We cannot bear Dr. Ramadoss being disrespected. It is equivalent to disrespecting working-class people.” While the party functionaries are with Mr. Anbumani, voters from the Vanniyar community, backward classes and minorities are behind Dr. Ramadoss, the MLA added.

Explaining the PMK founder’s contribution to the party, Mr. Arul said that Dr. Ramadoss made ordinary people Union Ministers, MPs, and MLAs. When the PMK was founded by Dr. Ramadoss, Mr. Anbumani was just 21 years old. When Dr. Ramadoss decided to bring Mr. Anbumani as party president, the present honorary president, G.K. Mani, gave the president post to Mr. Anbumani. But now, in social media, a gang was targeting Mr. Mani and other senior leaders. Everyone in PMK came to the party after seeing Dr. Ramadoss, he added.

Urging Mr. Anbumani to listen to the advice of his father, Mr. Arul said that Mr. Anbumani was a good person. However, he was under wrong guidance from a few people.

The party has been facing setbacks for the last 15 years. The television channel run by PMK (Makkal TV) had not shown Dr. Ramadoss for the past six months. “We are not against Mr. Anbumani. He is the future of PMK. We are speaking now as Mr. Anbumani is criticising Dr. Ramadoss. People will compare the sacrifice of Dr. Ramadoss and Anbumani. Dr. Ramadoss will do what is good for the people and the party,” Mr. Arul added.
