A day after he wrote a letter seeking voluntary retirement, Narayan Baramani, Additional SP, Dharwad, has joined duty. He was on leave for some time.
Mr. Baramani had claimed to have been publicly humiliated at a party rally in Belagavi in April by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who tried to slap him. “Unable to suffer this insult any longer, I seek VRS,” he said in the letter written to the Home Secretary.
He told reporters in Dharwad on Thursday that the Chief Minister and Home Minister G. Parameshwar spoke to him about the issue and asked him to join duty. To a query on what happens to his letter in which he sought VRS, he said the State government would decide on it.
Mr. Parameshwar had told reporters in Bengaluru on Wednesday that the State government would not accept his request for VRS, and would instead give him a posting.
