Elon Musk has hit back at Donald Trump following his attack on the tech titan’s launch of the America Party and took a swipe at the US President’s Truth Social platform, claiming he had never heard of it. Notably, Musk has written posts on Truth Social.

On Sunday, Trump called Musk’s move to launch the America Party ridiculous, saying he “can have fun with it” and calling him a “train wreck” amid an escalating feud with his former ally.

In a series of tweets, Musk wrote, “What’s Truth Social? Never heard of it.” In another post, the tech billionaire said his America Party was needed to fight the “Republican/Democrat Uniparty” and that it was the solution.

Quoting a stanza from the Litany Against Fear, from Frank Herbert’s Dune series, Musk said, “Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration.”

On Saturday, Musk announced he was launching the America Party with posts on his platform X. He criticised both political parties and went after Trump’s new tax and spending bill, dubbed ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’, which was signed into law.

“When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste and graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom,” Musk had said.

TRUMP-MUSK FEUD INTENSIFIES

Musk has repeatedly criticised Trump’s economic policies. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the bill Trump signed would raise the US deficit by USD 3.3 trillion by 2034. The bill includes large tax cuts for the rich and cuts to welfare programmes, which could cause millions of Americans to lose their health coverage.

The relationship between Musk and Trump became tense after the former quit the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in May and criticised the US President’s ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’.

After Musk’s recent attacks on Trump’s policies, Trump responded by suggesting he might “look into” deporting the South African-born billionaire. Trump also hinted that he could reduce government contracts for Musk’s companies, including SpaceX.

Amid the controversy, Musk said that his new party is serious. He hinted that the America Party would aim to influence Congress by focusing on a few key Senate and House races. He believed that it could give the party enough votes to influence major laws.

“Backing a candidate for president is not out of the question, but the focus for the next 12 months is on the House and the Senate. What the heck was the point of DOGE if he’s just going to increase the debt by USD 5 trillion??” Musk wrote on Sunday.

Musk also shared a poll on X asking followers whether they wanted to break away from the two-party system. He said the results showed two out of three voters supported the idea.

Musk had bankrolled a large part of Trump’s presidential campaign after the Republican’s twin assassination attempts last year.
