British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has congratulated India on winning the T20 World Cup. He reached Swami Narayan Temple in London today with his wife Akshata Murthy for worship. London: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murthy today performed puja at Swami Narayan Temple in London. After this, he congratulated India on winning the T20 World Cup final. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak expressed pride in being a Hindu and said that I get inspiration from Hinduism. Let us tell you that PM Rishi Sunak had reached the prestigious BAPS Swaminarayan temple in London for worship during the last weekend of his campaign before the general elections to be held in Britain on July 4. This temple is also known as Neasden Temple. When the convoy of Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murthy reached the premises of the grand temple on Saturday evening, the people present there welcomed them enthusiastically. After this, both of them performed puja under the guidance of priests.
Rishi Sunak interacted with volunteers and community leaders after visiting the temple. Cricket fan Sunak started his address by mentioning India’s victory in the T20 World Cup and said that he gets inspiration from Hinduism. He said, “I am a Hindu like all of you and my religion inspires me.” Rishi Sunak said, “I am proud to take oath as a Member of Parliament with my hand on the ‘Bhagavad Gita’. Our religion teaches that we should do our duty and if we are doing it honestly then we should not worry about the result.” He said, “This is what my dear parents have taught me and this is how I live my life. This is what I want to teach my daughters. Rishi Sunak said that I get guidance from Hinduism It is this religion that guides me in my approach to public service. Sunak mentioned the service of the community done by his father and mother. He also mentioned the “fantastic work” done by his mother-in-law Sudha Murthy in India. He said, “My wife is not only my biggest support, but she is also committed to public service.” As Britain’s first Prime Minister of Indian origin, 44-year-old Sunak thanked the community members for their “prayers and love” and vowed to continue to make them proud. An activist of the far-right ‘Reform UK’ had made racist remarks against Sunak during the election campaign. Referring to this, Sunak emphasized Britain’s multi-religious reputation.
Sunak said, “I am proud to be the first British Asian Prime Minister, but I am even more proud that this is not a big deal. Due to the events of the last few days, we should not forget that Britain is the world’s most successful multi-ethnic, multi-faith democracy.” Sunak and Murthy also offered prayers at the Akshardham Temple in New Delhi during their visit to India for the G-20 summit in September.
