Family of five found dead in Ahmedabad-OxBig News Network

The bodies of a couple and their three minor children were found at their rented home in Bagodara village of Ahmedabad district in the early hours of Sunday (July 20, 2025), police said. 

The victims have been identified as Vipul Vaghela (32), his wife Sonal (26), and their children Kareena (11), Mayur (8), and Princess (5), according to the Bagodara police.

Ahmedabad (Rural) Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Jat said police were informed about the incident around 2 a.m. “Prima facie, it appears that the family members died after consuming a toxic substance. The exact circumstances leading to the deaths are under investigation,” he said.

Police are also examining whether the deaths were the result of a deliberate act by one or both parents. “We are looking into the possibility that the man may have killed his wife and children before taking the same step himself, or that the couple may have administered poison to the children before their own deaths,” Mr. Jat said.

Vaghela was working as an auto-rickshaw driver. The bodies have been sent for postmortem, and further investigation is ongoing.
