As India-Pakistan relations remain strained, playback singer Adnan Sami shared a conversation he had with some Pakistani boys in Azerbaijan. They told him that he had left Pakistan at the right time and expressed a desire to give up their Pakistani identities.

Adnan, who once held a Pakistani passport and is now an Indian citizen, shared a conversation with some Pakistani boys in Azerbaijan. They told him they hated the Pakistan Army for destroying their country. The singer mentioned he had known about this for a long time.
The singer, granted Indian citizenship in 2016, took to X to share his thoughts, “Met some very sweet Pakistani boys while walking on the beautiful streets of Baku, Azerbaijan… They said “Sir, You are very lucky.. You left Pakistan in good time.. We also want to change our citizenship…WE HATE OUR ARMY…They have destroyed our country!!” I replied “ I knew this long ago!”
Adnan’s journey to Indian citizenship
The ‘Tera Chehra‘ singer arrived in India in 2001 with a Pakistani passport and lived here for 15 years. After his Pakistani passport expired in 2013, he began the process of obtaining Indian citizenship, which he received in 2016.
