It is no news that Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar has been juggling his film commitments with his passion for motorsport racing. Post his return to the sport in September 2024, Ajith has been in the news for all sorts of reasons, including podium finishes, scary accidents, and candid interviews. Now, on Sunday (April 20), his racing team, Ajith Kumar Racing, secured the second position at the prestigious Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.

For the star who is basking in the blockbuster success of Good Bad Ugly, the podium finishes must surely double his joy. Ajith’s manager and PRO Suresh Chandraa took to his X handle to announce the news.

In one of the videos, Ajith can be seen standing on the podium along with his teammates, as an enthusiastic crowd chants his nickname ‘AK.’

Meanwhile, Adhik Ravichandran, the director of Good Bad Ugly and an ardent fan of the actor, expressed his excitement on X.

Incidentally, not everything went as per the plan for Team Ajith Kumar Racing. Earlier this weekend, Ajith met with an accident during a practice session. Thankfully, he escaped unhurt and continued to march on to the race.

Notably, this isn’t the first time the team has secured a podium finish. They made headlines in January for securing the third spot in the 991 category at the prestigious Dubai 24H Race.

What’s up with Ajith Kumar and motor racing?

Ajith, a well-known racing aficionado, announced his return to racing in September 2024, with the launch of his own racing team, called Ajith Kumar Racing. The team had announced the star’s desire to participate in the ongoing European GT4 championship. Popular Belgian racer Fabian Duffieux was announced as the team’s official racing driver.

A passionate racer, Ajith had previously competed in the Asian Formula BMW Championship and the British Formula 3 Championship, including podium finishes at the Donington Park and Knockhill circuits. He had also raced in the FIA Formula 2 Championship.

Having started off with motorcycle racing, Ajith also took part in the National Motorcycle Racing Championship. Notably, Ajith also founded the Chennai-based start-up Venus Motorcycles, which focuses on motorcycle touring and training bike enthusiasts.

On the film front, Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly has just become one of his highest-grossing films of all time, collecting almost Rs. 250 crores at the worldwide box office.
