Clash at Indo-Bangladesh border leaves BSF jawan, intruder injured-OxBig News Network

A BSF jawan and a Bangladeshi intruder were injured in a violent clash at the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura’s Sepahijala district. Meanwhile, Mumbai Police arrested 16 illegal Bangladeshi migrants in a crackdown across Maharashtra.

A violent clash erupted along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura’s Sepahijala district on February 28, leaving a BSF jawan and a Bangladeshi intruder injured. According to an official release, a group of 20–25 Bangladeshi miscreants allegedly engaged in smuggling activities crossed into Indian territory near Border Pillar (BP) 2050/7-S in the BOP Putia area at around 7:30 PM.

The intruders were intercepted by a Border Security Force (BSF) patrolling team, but instead of retreating, they launched a violent attack on the security personnel.

BSF jawan opens fire in self-defense

As the situation escalated, the intruders attempted to snatch weapons from the BSF personnel. In response, a BSF jawan fired a non-lethal Pump Action Gun (PAG) round in self-defense, injuring one of the Bangladeshi nationals.

The BSF release stated, “Both the injured BSF jawan and the Bangladeshi intruder were immediately evacuated for medical treatment and are currently undergoing treatment at respective hospitals.”

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, and further details are awaited.

Mumbai Police crackdown on illegal Bangladeshi migrants

Meanwhile, in a separate development, Mumbai Police, under the direction of Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Praveen Mundhe, conducted extensive searches across multiple areas in Maharashtra and apprehended 16 Bangladeshi intruders.

According to a police statement, “14 teams from police stations within Mumbai Zone-1 conducted searches in Mankhurd, Vashi Naka, Kalamboli, Panvel, Kopri Thane, Kalyan, and Mumbra, leading to the arrest of 16 Bangladeshi nationals.”

Authorities have registered new cases against those without prior records, while repeat offenders will have this added to their existing charges. The investigation into illegal immigration activities in the region remains ongoing.
