Cooperation in education sector is fulcrum of India-Australia relationship: Dharmendra Pradhan

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasised the significance of education cooperation between India and Australia, calling it the fulcrum of their relationship. Speaking at Australian International Education Conference in Melbourne, Pradhan highlighted the potential for both nations to advance knowledge, leverage technology, and foster innovation and entrepreneurship among students.

During his visit to Australia, Pradhan met with Australian Education Minister Jason Clare to discuss strengthening their partnership in critical and emerging technologies. They also explored establishing branch campuses of Australian universities in India. Notably, Deakin University and the University of Wollongong already opened their Indian campuses last year.

Pradhan stressed that education must prepare students for the 4th Industrial Revolution, focusing on digital literacy, soft skills, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary studies to adapt to evolving job markets. Australia’s

Minister Jason Clare noted that by 2035, one in four university degree holders worldwide will be from India.
