A student was found dead in her room in a university hostel in the Ashiana police station area of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. Local police officials said that Rastogi was the daughter of an officer of the 1998 batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS).

What happened to Anika?
Anika went to her room on Saturday night. She remained in the room for a long time. Some friends reached outside her room, but the door was locked from inside. After this, when she did not open the room, her friends somehow entered the room, where she was lying unconscious on the floor. Anika’s friends immediately took her to the hospital in an unconscious state, where doctors declared her dead. Meanwhile, Anika’s parents were also informed, who reached the hospital. Police said that there were no marks of injury on Anika’s body. The hostel room was locked from inside and nothing suspicious was found inside.

Law University spokesperson Shashank Shekhar said that in the preliminary investigation it seems that Anika died due to cardiac arrest. According to sources, Anika Rastogi had a heart attack earlier as well and had undergone heart-related operations three times. After this information came to light, it seems that the cause of her death could be a heart-related problem, but the situation will be clear only after the postmortem report comes. According to the police, further action will be taken on the basis of the postmortem report and the victim’s family members have not yet lodged a complaint with the police. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital said in a statement that Anika died due to cardiac arrest at around 10 pm.
