Looking younger than his age, he was hesitant to take on a role that demanded significant weight gain, making the decision even tougher for him.Aamir Khan admitted that if he had focused on pleasing the audience, he wouldn’t have done Dangal. He recalled telling director Nitesh Tiwari that while he loved the story, the timing felt off. Aamir Khan humorously recalled his initial reaction to Dangal, joking that it felt like a setup by Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. He told director Nitesh Tiwari, “Did Shah Rukh send you? I think Salman and Shah Rukh plotted to give me a 60-year-old’s role just to push me out of the industry!”

Aamir further shared that he initially hesitated because he was looking young and fit at the time. He even suggested that Nitesh Tiwari make the film after 10-15 years. While Nitesh agreed, the story lingered in Aamir’s mind, and eventually, he decided to take the plunge, saying, “Let’s do it, we’ll see what happens.”
