Now, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Abhijeet shared the text he sent to Dua Lipa after the song went viral. The singer acknowledged the uproar during Dua Lipa’s concert, where his fans also showed support for him. He shared that his phone was flooded with calls after the performance, with celebrities and corporate figures congratulating him. He admitted he hadn’t seen the performance initially but later sent Dua Lipa a thank-you message, appreciating how his classic song had reached a mass audience.

Abhijeet mentioned that his son, Jay, was wrong to bring up the issue of not giving credit for the song. He explained that no superstar or anyone else can claim ownership of the song, as Anu Malik, the composer, made it a classic. Abhijeet emphasized that while anyone can use the song, no one can own the brand.

Abhijeet further shared that the song was a flop when it was released 25 years ago. He recalled how, in 1999, he was disappointed that the song was titled Woh Ladki Joh Sabse Alag Hai. He would often tell people that Anu Malik had composed it, but they didn’t believe him because Anu Malik was more known for his commercial and rock music. Abhijeet also mentioned that the song Baadshah Oh Baadshah, which was more commercial, was doing better at the time.
