Callina Liang tapped to play Chun-Li in live-action ‘Street Fighter’ reboot-OxBig News Network

Callina Liang, known for her recent performance in Steven Soderbergh’s Presence, has been cast as Chun-Li in Legendary Entertainment’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Street Fighter, sources confirmed to Deadline. Liang steps into the role of one of the franchise’s most iconic characters, and marks a major addition to the film’s ensemble.

Directed by Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip), the film is based on the long-running and globally successful video game series from Capcom. While plot details remain under wraps, the casting of Chun-Li — a fan-favorite character and skilled Interpol agent — signals a faithful approach to the source material. Chun-Li made her debut in Street Fighter II in 1991 and quickly became a symbol of strength and agility in the fighting game community.

Liang joins a growing cast that includes Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, and Orville Peck. The film aims to reboot the Street Fighter franchise for a new generation of fans, likely centered around the infamous fighting tournament featured in the games.

Launched in 1987, Street Fighter has become one of the best-selling video game franchises in history, with over 55 million copies sold worldwide.
