‘Retro’: Suriya-Karthik Subbaraj film gets a release date-OxBig News Network

The makers of Retro have announced the film’s release date. Starring Suriya and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the movie is bankrolled by Stone Bench Films of Karthik and Suriya’s 2D Entertainment.

The film team took to X to announce that the movie will hit the screens on May 1, 2025. Pooja Hegde plays the female lead in Retro. Other actors in the movie are Joju George, Karunakaran Jayaram, Nassar, Sujith Shankar, and Prakash Raj.

Shreyaas Krishna is the film’s cinematographer while Santhosh Narayanan is the music composer. Shafique Mohamed has done the editing while the art direction is from Jackson. The film has action choreography from Kecha Khamphakdee while Praveen Raja has done the costume design.

The makers recently released the film’s title teaser, introducing the characters played by Suriya and Pooja Hegde. Meanwhile, Suriya was last seen in Kanguva, an action adventure directed by Siva.

The movie has made the eligibility criteria list under the Best Picture category of Oscars 2025. Karthik Subbaraj’s last directorial was the sequel Jigarthanda DoubleX, starring SJ Suryah and Raghava Lawrence.
