Salman Khan found himself at the center of controversy on Sunday after posting, then deleting, a tweet that said, “Thank God for the ceasefire…” The actor’s post came just hours after India and Pakistan agreed to halt military operations following Operation Sindoor, India’s targeted strikes on terror camps in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack.
The tweet, while brief, triggered swift backlash across social media. Critics accused the superstar of showing selective concern —speaking up only when a ceasefire was announced, but staying silent on the massacre in Kashmir that claimed innocent lives. Many alleged the tweet prioritised diplomacy over national grief, and screenshots of the deleted post spread rapidly even after Khan removed it.
As of now, Salman Khan has not issued a statement addressing the criticism or explaining the tweet. His social media accounts remain otherwise inactive on the issue.
The ceasefire itself followed days of intense exchanges between the two countries. After Indian forces struck nine key terror facilities across the border in Operation Sindoor, including major airbases in Pakistan-occupied territory, both sides agreed to halt hostilities after Pakistan’s DGMO reportedly reached out to India to initiate talks.
