Vicky Kaushal‘s historical epic Chhaava continues its commanding performance at the box office, concluding its sixth week just shy of the Rs 590 crore milestone.
As of Day 42, the film has amassed an impressive Rs 589.15 crore in India, maintaining its position as one of the year’s most successful releases. Despite a gradual decline in collections throughout its sixth week, Chhaava has managed to outpace newer films, including the John Abraham-led political thriller The Diplomat. According to reports from Sacnilk.com, Chhaava earned an estimated Rs 1.40 crore on its 42nd day, significantly surpassing The Diplomat, which collected approximately Rs 70 lakh in early estimates.
The Diplomat, which premiered on March 14, 2025, generated considerable buzz during its opening weekend but has struggled to maintain the sustained box office momentum achieved by Chhaava.
In its sixth weekend alone, Chhaava added an estimated Rs 16.3 crore to its total, making it the second-highest sixth-weekend grosser in Bollywood history. It trails only the horror-comedy Stree 2, which collected around Rs 18.6 crore during the same period. However, Chhaava has successfully outperformed major blockbusters like Jawan and Pathaan, which earned approximately Rs 10.59 crore and Rs 8.85 crore, respectively, during their sixth weekends.
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava offers a cinematic retelling of the life and legacy of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the warrior king and son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Vicky Kaushal delivers a powerful performance in the titular role, with Rashmika Mandanna portraying Maharani Yesubai and Akshaye Khanna essaying the role of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The film blends action, drama, and historical intrigue to depict Sambhaji Maharaj’s struggle against the Mughal empire and his unwavering commitment to protecting the Maratha kingdom.
As Chhaava approaches the Rs 600 crore mark in domestic earnings, it continues to assert itself as one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time. Its box office dominance remains largely unchallenged, though the upcoming release of Salman Khan’s much-anticipated action-drama Sikandar is expected to provide significant competition. Ahead of its release, the film has already generated Rs 10 crore in advance bookings. It arrives in time for the festival of Eid, on March 30.
