In an interview with Hindi Rush, Sujata discussed the real-life chemistry between Madhuri and Sanjay, which went beyond their on-screen roles. Their connection began during the filming of Zameen (1987). While Sanjay never visited the set, their intimate scenes, particularly a rain sequence, revealed the depth of their bond. Sujata also mentioned seeing photos of the sensuous rain song, which further highlighted their chemistry.

Their rumoured romance became the talk of the town after they starred together in hits like Thanedaar and Saajan.
