Samantha Ruth Prabhu recently spoke about her decision to turn her pristine white wedding dress into a black one after separating from her husband Naga Chaitanya.
In an interview with Galatta India, Samantha spoke about the harsh labels and stigmas women face after a divorce, like being called “second-hand,” “used,” or having a “wasted life.” She emphasised that these judgments create a lot of difficulty not only for the woman going through the divorce but also for her family.She highlighted that society pressures divorced women to feel like failures, guilty, and ashamed of their past marriage, making the experience challenging for everyone involved.
The actress also shared that while her divorce initially hurt deeply, she eventually chose to embrace it. Instead of letting the situation define her, she decided to own her past and move forward with strength. She explained that her decision to redesign her wedding dress wasn’t about revenge, but about symbolizing resilience.
