Deepika Padukone calls out Oscars for snubbing Indian titles-OxBig News Network

Bollywood star Deepika Padukone, who recently attended Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2025 show at the Paris Fashion Week, has expressed her disappointment with Indian titles repeatedly getting snubbed at the renowned Academy Awards.

On Sunday, Deepika shared a video on Instagram while getting ready for the show. Stating how she feels happy for Adrien Brody, who won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in The Brutalist, Deepika went on to speak about how Indian titles have repeatedly been snubbed of glory.

“India has been robbed of the Oscars many times. Many, Many deserving movies I feel like just get snubbed; whether it’s movies, whether it’s talent.” The Singham Again-star then shared how she felt when SS Rajamouli’s RRR won the Oscar for Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards. “But I remember being in the audience and when they announced RRR, I got emotional. Outside of being Indian, I had really nothing to do with that movie, but that was a huge, huge moment. That felt very, very personal.”

Deepika’s video, with a moving background score, was intercut with montages from acclaimed films such as All We Imagine As Light, Laapataa Ladies, The Lunchbox, and Tumbbad — films that were acclaimed even by Western audiences, but weren’t nominated for an Oscar.

Meanwhile, actor and filmmaker Mindy Kaling, of The Office fame, commented on Deepika’s video, recollecting the time she met her at the Oscars. “When I met you at the Oscars I almost couldn’t breathe! You’re amazing!” she wrote.

Deepika Padukone represented India at the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2025 show in Paris. The actor is the first Indian to be signed on as a global ambassador by the French luxury brands Louis Vuitton and Cartier. The Louis Vuitton show in Paris was also graced by many international celebrities, including Ana de Armas, Sophie Turner, Bella Thorne, Emma Stone, Phoebe Dynevor, and K-pop band BLACKPINK member Lisa.

In February, Deepika graced the ramp for Cartier’s 25th anniversary celebration in the Middle East, which marked her first international appearance since welcoming her daughter, Dua Singh Padukone, in September last year. The actor also opened designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s Mumbai fashion show celebrating 25 years of his iconic label.

On the work front, Deepika was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, a role which Rohit had announced would get a standalone film in his Cop Universe. The actor has the sequel of Kalki 2898AD in the line-up, however, she has yet to announce her upcoming film after becoming a mother.
