Paresh Rawal returns to Hera Pheri 3 after exit controversy with Akshay Kumar-OxBig News Network

After weeks of drama and controversy, veteran actor Paresh Rawal has confirmed his return to the Hera Pheri franchise. The actor had shocked fans and industry people alike by quitting the third part of the series. To be directed by Priyadarshan, Hera Pheri 3 also stars Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty.

In the podcast The Himanshu Mehta Show, Rawal said, “It’s all resolved now. Nothing has happened,” putting an end to the row. Adding that makers should respect the popularity of the franchise, Rawal said, “You can’t take things for granted.”

In May 2025, Rawal had said that his exit from the movie was “rightful” as he felt “he doesn’t feel like a part of it.” Confirming his return to the franchise, Rawal said in the podcast that some “fine-turning” was needed among the team members of the movie. It was reported that Rawal was in a legal tussle with Akshay, one of the producers of the movie.

“My lawyer, Ameet Naik, has sent an appropriate response regarding my rightful termination and exit. Once they read my response, all issues will be laid to rest,” Rawal had posted on social media last month. The actor has now expressed his desire with to work with his long-time friends Akshay, Suniel and Priyadarshan, implying the end of a reported rift with the film’s team.

Rawal had disappointed fan with his decision to not play his iconic character Babu Bhaiya in the third part. “I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences. I reinstate that there are no creative disagreement with the filmmaker. I hold immense respect, love and faith in Mr Priyadarshan, the film director,” he had posted on May 18, 2025, confirming his exit from the movie.

Hera Pheri (2000) is a remake of the Malayalam hit Ramji Rao Speaking (1989). The second film in the series, Phir Hera Pheri, released in 2006. While the first part was helmed by Priyadarshan, the second part was directed by Neeraj Vora.
