A day after the Central Bureau of Investigation filed a closure report in the death case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, giving a clean chit to Rhea Chakraborty, many celebrities including actor-director Pooja Bhatt, actor Dia Mirza and television actor Uorfi Javed have come to support Rhea.

Ever since Sushant’s death in 2020, Rhea, his then-girlfriend, has been at the centre of a media trial and was put through years of interrogation by the authorities.

Reacting to CBI’s report, Pooja reposted superstar Akshay Kumar’s post wishing for ‘truth to prevail’ in CBI’s investigation into Sushant’s death and wrote:

Actor Dia Mirza, meanwhile, called the media trial a ‘witch hunt’ and demanded an apology for Rhea. “Who in the media will have the grace to put out a written apology to Rhea Chakraborthy and her family? You went on a witch hunt. You caused deep anguish and harrasment just for TRP’s. Apologise. That’s the very least you can do,” wrote Dia.

Social media sensation and television actor, Uorfi Javed, took to her Instagram stories to support Rhea. “@rhea_chakraborty the grace you’ve carried yourself through all of this is so inspiring!” wrote Uorfi.

Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging from the ceiling of his apartment in suburban Bandra in Mumbai on June 14, 2020. Rhea, who was then dating Sushant, faced severe allegations from Sushant’s family. The Bihar police had hen registered an abetment of suicide case on her based on a complaint filed in Patna by Sushant’s father K K Singh.

Rhea’s brother Shouvik Chakraborty, along with several other accused, were also arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a drugs-related probe linked to Sushant’s death. Her lawyer Satish Maneshinde stated that she, “had to undergo untold miseries and was behind bars for 27 days” before being released on bail.

In its closure report filed on March 22, the CBI ruled the actor’s death as suicide, dismissing claims of “poisoning and strangling.” Since the news about the report came out, netizens and celebrities have been sharing their reactions on social media.
