Director SS Rajamouli was seen pushing away a fan attempting to take a selfie during the funeral of veteran actor Kota Srinivasa Rao in Hyderabad on Saturday. A video of the incident, which has since circulated on social media, shows Rajamouli reacting visibly to the interruption as he exited the late actor’s residence with his wife, Rama Rajamouli.

The clip captures a man approaching Rajamouli with a phone in hand while the director walks toward his car. After initially ignoring the fan, Rajamouli appears frustrated and pushes him aside before getting into the vehicle. The moment has drawn public attention online, questioning the appropriateness of seeking selfies during a private mourning.

Kota Srinivasa Rao, a respected figure in Indian cinema, passed away on July 13 at the age of 83. His funeral drew several prominent members of the Telugu film industry, including Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, Prakash Raj, Venkatesh Daggubati, and Rana Daggubati, who arrived to offer condolences.

Rajamouli also paid tribute to the actor on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Kota Srinivasa Rao garu. A master of his craft, a legend who breathed life into every character he portrayed. His presence on screen was truly irreplaceable. My heartfelt condolences to his family. Om Shanti.”

Born in Kankipadu, Andhra Pradesh, in 1942, Kota Srinivasa Rao began his acting career with the 1978 Telugu film Pranam Khareedu. Over the years, he worked in more than 750 films across Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. Known for his versatility, Rao played a wide range of roles and was recognised for his contribution to Indian cinema with awards at both the state and national level.
