Kesari Chapter 2, starring Akshay Kumar, earned ₹17.50 crore net in India and over $1 million overseas in two days, totaling ₹30 crore worldwide. The historical courtroom drama is the 7th highest-grossing Hindi film this year, surpassing Emergency and poised to cross ₹100 crore in its first week.

On its second day, ‘Kesari Chapter 2‘, starring Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday, maintained a steady performance at the box office despite a slow beginning. The period drama has seen moderate success domestically but is performing stronger internationally, thanks to its compelling storyline and Kumar’s global fanbase. This has helped the historical courtroom drama gain momentum following a slow opening.
Domestic and Overseas Collections
In its first two days, ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ has raked in Rs. 17.50 crore net (Rs. 21 crore gross) domestically. According to Sacnilk, the movie has also earned over $1 million (approximately Rs. 9 crore) from international markets, pushing its worldwide total to Rs. 30 crore. Although the figures aren’t exceptionally high, the film is on track to potentially cross the Rs. 100 crore mark by the end of its first week.
Box Office rankings and projections
Akshay’s ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ has become the 7th highest-grossing Hindi film of the year after only two days, exceeding the total earnings of Kangana Ranaut‘s ‘Emergency’ and Sonu Sood’s ‘Fateh’. Among the films ahead, it’s projected to outpace John Abraham’s ‘Diplomat’ and Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Deva’ by Monday. While surpassing the lifetime collections of ‘Chhaava’ and ‘Sikandar’ might be difficult, it is expected to outperform Sunny Deol’s ‘Jaat’.
Film synopsis
‘Kesari Chapter 2’ features Akshay portraying C. Sankaran Nair, the determined lawyer who challenged the British Raj to bring the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre to light. R Madhavan plays Advocate Neville McKinley, while Ananya Panday appears as Dilreet Gill. The film, a historical courtroom drama, marks the directorial debut of Karan Singh Tyagi.
