Mallika Sherawat reveals feeling safe on Murder set, especially during bold scenes: ‘Both Mahesh Bhatt sahab and Emraan Hashmi made me very comfortable’ | Hindi Movie News

After staying away from the limelight for a while, Mallika Sherawat is set to return to Bollywood in Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s upcoming film Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. As she gears up for her comeback, Mallika opened up about the challenges she faced during her initial years in the industry and the influential people who shaped her journey.
In an interview with Hautterfly, Mallika expressed her gratitude toward filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who played a pivotal role in her early career, particularly during the making of Murder (2004).She credited him for helping her break free from patriarchal constraints and encouraging her progressive outlook.
“I have met some fantastic men in my life. They have shaped me to be the woman that I am. Mahesh Bhatt sahab has given me wings. He has made a huge contribution to help me get out of those patriarchal shackles. When I was working on Murder with him, we would have long conversations, and his thoughts on things, even the women in his house, were very progressive. Because Bhatt Sahab is a very progressive man, so that brought a lot of change in me,” Mallika shared.

Mallika also spoke about her experience shooting for Murder and how safe she felt on set, especially during the bold scenes. She recalled feeling slightly uncomfortable at first due to the presence of many crew members but praised both Mahesh Bhatt and her co-star Emraan Hashmi for making her feel at ease. “All girls are very safe on his set. I felt very safe even doing those bold scenes in Murder. Of course, one feels a little uncomfortable because there are so many people from the unit. But both Bhatt sahab and Emraan Hashmi made me very comfortable. Emraan was an absolute gentleman,” she said.

Reflecting on her journey in the industry, Mallika noted that the audience wasn’t ready for her bold persona back in 2004 but acknowledged the support she received from people like Mahesh Bhatt and international star Jackie Chan, who she described as ‘very fantastic’ and ‘encouraging.’
