Actor Rohit Roy recently shared insights into the drastic measures he took to prepare for his role in the 2007 film ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’, revealing the physical and psychological toll it took on him.
Speaking on Cyrus Broacha’s YouTube channel, Rohit admitted to following an extreme water-only diet that resulted in him losing 16 kilograms in just 25 days. Reflecting on the experience, he described it as “dangerous and stupid” and vowed never to attempt such an approach again.
“I had to look emaciated for the role, so I went on a water diet. It was really intense, and I lost 16 kgs in 25-26 days,” he disclosed. While the transformation helped him achieve the desired look for his character, Rohit acknowledged the significant risks involved.
“It is dangerous for the organs. That’s why I called it stupid. I’ve heard stories of actors in Hollywood who have followed similar diets, and some have even died as a result.”
The actor also emphasized the psychological challenges of maintaining an altered physique. “To get out of the diet is also a struggle. It plays on your mind because you look a certain way while following it, and then you want to look like that forever. But nobody can maintain that look forever,” he explained.
Rohit cautioned fans against blindly following fitness routines they see on social media, highlighting the curated nature of celebrity posts. “I always say, don’t go by my Instagram account; I’m putting my best version there,” he said, urging people to focus on sustainable and healthy approaches to fitness.
Meanwhile Rohit’s previous outing was ‘Metro….In Dino’.
