Saif Ali Khan stabbing case: Both security guards in the building were sleeping when attacker scaled boundary wall, reveals Mumbai Police | Hindi Movie News

A Bangladeshi national, arrested for attacking Saif Ali Khan, reportedly entered the actor’s residential building in Mumbai’s Bandra area by scaling the compound wall and found the security guards asleep, police said on Tuesday, as per PTI.
The incident occurred in the early hours of January 16 at the Satguru Sharan building, where the 54-year-old actor resides. The attacker, identified as Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, also known as Vijay Das (30), stabbed Khan multiple times inside his 12th-floor apartment. Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery for multiple stab injuries.
Mumbai police recreated the crime scene on Tuesday with the accused at the building to better understand the sequence of events.
A police official revealed, “Both the security guards in the building were sleeping when the attacker scaled the boundary wall and entered the premises. There are no CCTV cameras installed at the main entrance or the building’s corridor, which allowed the intruder to avoid detection.”
The accused reportedly removed his shoes, placed them in his bag to minimize noise, and switched off his phone before entering the building.
Investigators found one guard sleeping in the cabin and the other near the gate. The absence of adequate surveillance cameras added to the security lapses.

Police took the accused back to the actor’s building and other locations he had visited before and after the attack, including places where he ate, changed clothes, and boarded a train.
Currently, the accused is held in police lockup, either at the Bandra or Santacruz police station, with limited access allowed only to the investigation officer. He is being provided the same food as other detainees.
Fakir, originally from Jhalokathi district in Bangladesh, had been living in Mumbai for over five months. He worked odd jobs through a housekeeping agency before the attack.

A court in Mumbai remanded him to five days of police custody on Sunday, and Inspector Ajay Lingnurkar has been appointed as the lead investigator in the case.
