Salman Khan’s much-anticipated action drama Sikandar is already making waves at the box office ahead of its theatrical release on March 30. With three days remaining, the film’s advance bookings have surged to an impressive Rs 9.30 crore, bringing it closer to the Rs 10 crore milestone.
According to a report by Sacnilk.com, Sikandar has generated significant buzz since advance ticket sales opened on Wednesday. Early estimates indicated earnings of Rs 2.81 crore from 2D shows, which have now risen to Rs 3.95 crore. Including IMAX screenings, the film’s total advance collection stands at an estimated Rs 3.98 crore.
The report also notes that with blocked seats, the advance booking numbers are estimated to be around Rs 9.31 crore. Maharashtra and Delhi have emerged as the film’s strongest markets, with Maharashtra leading at Rs 1.8 crore in advance sales, followed by Delhi at Rs 1.4 crore.
Latest reports indicate that ticket pricing could also factor into the film’s ultimate box office performance. Across major metros, ticket prices for the film are soaring, with some multiplexes charging as much as Rs 2200 for premium ‘director’s cut’ or ‘luxe’ seats in Mumbai and premium tickets range in Deli selling between Rs 1600 to Rs 1900. Despite these high prices, many screens in the Delhi-NCR region are already sold out. Even standard multiplex seats are priced between Rs 850 and Rs 900 in major cities.
In Mumbai, some single-screen theatres are reportedly charging up to Rs 700 for recliner seats—an unusually high rate for such venues. While some view this as a reflection of strong demand, others in the industry worry that the high prices may deter the mass audience, who generally prefer more affordable tickets.
Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, Sikandar boasts an ensemble cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, Kajal Aggarwal, and Sharman Joshi alongside Salman Khan. With advance bookings already soaring, industry experts predict a massive opening weekend for the high-octane entertainer as it gears up for its Eid release.
