Salman Khan is back in theatres on Eid and the occasion is almost synonymous with a Salman movie release. ‘Sikandar‘ which is directed by AR Murugadoss has released in cinemas on Sunday, and the day 1 number it made was around Rs 26 crore at the domestic box office. This number is lesser than the opening day number of Salman’s previous releases – be it ‘Tiger 3’, or ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.
Sikandar Movie Review
The trade thinks that this number is low. While one did not expect the movie to cross the Rs 40 crore mark at the box office, a number above Rs 30 crore would have been good. However, it ended up just with Rs 26 crore on Day 1. However, one can expect to see some growth on the Eid day which is Monday. As per the early estimates and numbers till Monday afternoon, the collection was Rs 5.91 crore.
Thus, the collection of the movie so far is Rs 31.91 crore, till Monday afternoon. The film has been performing well in some Hindi belt mass circults. However, the performance is not up to the mark in centres like Gujarat, according to Box office India. Thus, the Monday Eid holiday numbers will play a major role in deciding the fate of the movie and the collections in the upcoming week days.
Daywise collection of Sikandar:
Day 1 [1st Sunday] ₹ 26 Cr –
Day 2 [1st Monday] ₹ 5.91 Cr (Till Monday Afternooon) –
Total ₹ 31.91 Cr
