Sobhita Dhulipala tied the knot with Naga Chaitanya in an intimate ceremony in Hyderabad in December 2024. The couple dated for about two years before they decided to take the plunge. The duo did not open up on their relationship earlier, till the time they were engaged. Chay’s father Nagarjuna Akkineni had shared the first pictures of the couple and made the announcement. In a recent interview joint interview, Chay and Sobhita opened up on their love story, why they kept their relationship a secret earlier and how he proposed.
Revealing their state of mind when they fell for each other, Sobhita said, “He was clear-headed, even-keeled and optimistic. At that point, I was also at a place in my head where I could see that I was ready to give and to receive. The timing was just perfect.” They did not open up on their relationship earlier. They neither admitted to it, neither denied. There were no pictures also with each other that they shared on the gram before they got engaged. Talking about the reason for it, Sobhita said, “I wanted to really sit with my feelings before going around town tom-tomming it.”
They then met each other’s families once they were sure. She shared, “There was no mic drop. It just happened very organically. He met her parents, she met his mom, dad and they got blessings from everyone. Once they got the blessings, he got down on one knee without any fanfare and asked for her hand. “Well, more of a crouch,” said Sobhita.
In an interview with ETimes, Chay had opened up on their wedding and said, “With the wedding, all credit to Sobhita. She planned it and designed everything. She loves culture. She loves the Telugu nativity. She brought it out in the most beautiful way possible with the smallest and finest of details. I’m so happy. It went off wonderful and the entire family came together and there were such lovely moments which stayed with us.”
