Vicky Kaushal-Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘Chhaava’ leaked online with 1,818 links on digital platforms; Police registers case |

A case has been registered against the illegal circulation of the Hindi film Chhaava across 1,818 digital links. Following a complaint by August Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., South Cyber Police have taken action under multiple sections of the Copyright Act, Cinematograph Act, and IT Act.
A source said, “On the complaint of Shri Rajat Rahul Haksar (Age 37), CEO of August Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., an anti-piracy agency appointed by Maddock Films Pvt. Ltd., regarding the unauthorized circulation of the Hindi movie Chhaava on various digital platforms, a case has been registered. The complainant reported that the film, released across India on 14/02/2025, was illegally made available through 1,818 internet links, violating copyright laws and impacting its theatrical distribution.”

Accordingly, a case has been registered at South Cyber Police Station under CR No. 23/2025 for offenses under Sections 316(2) and 308(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), read with Sections 51, 63, and 65A of the Copyright Act, Section 6AA of the Cinematograph Act, 1952 (Amendment 2023), and Sections 43 and 66 of the Information Technology Act. Further investigation is underway.

When contacted, DCP Datta Nalawade told ETimes, “An offence has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing.”

As of its 35th day in theaters, Chhaava has achieved remarkable box office success. The film has amassed an estimated ₹572.08 crore in India net collections across all languages. This includes Rs 31 crore on its opening day, with a notable peak of Rs 48.5 crore on the first Sunday. The movie maintained strong performance in subsequent weeks, adding Rs 219.25 crore in the first week, Rs 180.25 crore in the second, Rs 84.05 crore in the third, and Rs 55.95 crore in the fourth week. On the 35th day, it garnered approximately Rs 1.48 crore.
Globally, Chhaava has achieved a gross collection of Rs 769.3 crore, comprising Rs 680.3 crore from India and Rs 89 crore from overseas markets.
