Parveen Babi continues to be remembered for her gorgeous looks and a long list of on-screen appearances. However, the actress had a tragic personal life with failed relationships and mental health issues. She was in a relationship with Mahesh Bhatt, Kabir Bedi. Her name has also been linked several times to Amitabh Bachchan. While Bhatt made a film inspired from Parveen’s life, Bedi has also often spoken about his relationship with the actress.
He had said in an interview once that while people made him the villain, it was actually Parveen who broke up with him. Kabir got into a relationship with Parveen as he had an open marriage with his wife Protima. While Protima had an affair with a french man, Kabir was in love with Parveen.
However, they broke up because Kabir forced Parveen to opt for a medical treatment as her mental health was getting worse. He had said in an interview with Digital Commentary, “Woh toh isliye humare relationship ki khatam hui kyunki jab Italy ke baad hum London aaye mai ne dekha uski condition kharab ho rahi hai. Aur usko yeh manjoor nahi tha, jab ki mai janta tha ki agar vo treatment nahi legi toh haal bigadta jayega. Or is baat pe huamri separation hogayi. (Her health was getting bad and she was not okay with the fact that I knew that her condition would get even more worse if she doesn’t seek medical help. That’s what led to our break-up.”
Kabir further added that she got paranoid that what if I get to know about her condition and I would tell the world about it and she would lose her career, so she left me. Meanwhile, Bedi had also written about Parveen in his autobiography, “Stories I Must Tell: The Emotional Life Of An Actor”. He revealed shocking details of her death in it, further adding, “Her body was found in her Juhu flat four days after she died, a leg rotted by gangrene, a wheelchair by her bed. A lonely and tragic end of a star who had once been the fantasy of millions.”
He revealed that he attended Parveen’s funeral with two of her other ex-boyfriends, Mahesh Bhatt and Danny Denzongpa.
