Saif Ali Khan’s personal life has always been a topic of discussion, from his early marriage to Amrita Singh to their eventual separation and later, his relationship with Kareena Kapoor Khan. Saif usually remains reserved about his past with Amrita, but he once shared a significant moment from his life about what he wrote to Amrita before marrying Kareena.
In an old appearance on Koffee with Karan with his daughter Sara Ali Khan, Saif opened up about an emotional letter he wrote to Amrita on the day of his wedding to Kareena. He recalled how Sara was thrilled about the wedding, but before meeting her, he felt compelled to send a note to Amrita as a mark of goodwill. He also sought Kareena’s opinion on the letter before sending it.

“When I was getting married to Kareena, Sara was very excited and wanted to come over. For some reason, before going down, I wrote a note to Amrita (Singh). And I said, ‘You know, this is a new chapter starting, and you know, we’ve had our history and everything.’ Something along the lines of good wishes—I hope for both of us—and something, you know, to carry on. I sent it to Kareena and said, ‘Have a look at this. If it’s okay, I’m thinking of sending it across.’ And Kareena said, ‘I think it’s really nice.’ I sent it across, and then Sara called me and said, ‘You know, I was coming anyway, but now I am coming with a happy heart even more,'” he revealed.
In the same episode, Sara revealed that Amrita played a significant role in preparing her for Saif’s wedding. Dismissing the notion of any tension between her mother and Kareena, she shared how Amrita herself helped her dress up for the occasion.
Since then, Sara has been a regular visitor at Saif’s home and shares a cordial bond with Kareena.
Saif married Amrita Singh in 1991, and they had two children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. The duo ended their marriage in 2004. Saif then tied the knot with Kareena Kapoor in 2012, and they have two sons, Taimur and Jeh.
