When asked about it, Sonam called Aishwarya an “aunty from another generation,” which sparked controversy, especially since Aishwarya was just 36 years old at the time.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Sonam was asked about the incident and explained that since Aishwarya had worked with her father, Anil Kapoor, she felt they belonged to different generations. She clarified that this was the reason she referred to Aishwarya as “aunty.”

After facing backlash for her comment on Aishwarya, Sonam addressed the issue in another interview. She denied ever age-shaming Aishwarya, stating that she had been misquoted. Sonam emphasized that it was all gossip, and clarified that she respects Aishwarya and would never call her “aunty.”
