Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma are officially headed for divorce. The Bombay High Court has directed the Bandra Magistrate Court to expedite the divorce proceedings, ensuring a final decision by March 20. This move comes in light of Chahal’s commitments with the Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, which kicks off on March 22.
Amid the ongoing legal battle, Yuzvendra Chahal grabbed headlines when he was spotted with RJ Mahvash at the Champions Trophy final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The duo was seen sitting together in one of the premium stands, sparking curiosity among fans. Now, a new video circulating on social media shows them standing side by side, engrossed in their phones. Chahal sported a blue face mask, a baggy jacket, blue denim, and white shoes, while Mahvash was dressed in beige pants and a dark brown top.
As per legal norms, Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act mandates a six-month cooling-off period before granting a divorce decree. However, in Chahal and Dhanashree’s case, the court waived this requirement. The couple had reportedly been living separately for over two and a half years and filed for divorce through mutual consent. A marriage counselor’s report also confirmed that mediation efforts had only been partially complied with.

Justice Madhav Jamdar, who presided over the case, stated that this was a “rare case where there were no respondents” since both Chahal and Verma had jointly filed the petition. The court ruled that Chahal must pay Rs 4.75 crore in alimony, of which Rs 2.37 crore has already been settled.

While rumours suggested that Dhanashree Verma had demanded a staggering Rs 60 crore in alimony, her family swiftly dismissed these claims. They released a statement clarifying: “We are deeply outraged by the baseless claims being circulated about the alimony figure. Let me be absolutely clear—no such amount has ever been asked, demanded, or even offered. There is no truth to these rumors whatsoever.”
