FACT CHECK: It’s NOT Ustad Zakir Hussain in the viral video with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, it’s Ustad Tari Khan – WATCH

Tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain passed away on December 15. The ace tabla artist passed away in San Francisco idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis which is a lung disorder. As the tabla player passed away, many of his old videos went viral on the internet. Of which, this one video with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan gained a lot of eyeballs. But here’s the truth to it. The tablya player in this viral video is not Zakir Hussain. It is Ustad Tari Khan.
A user had uploaded a small clip of the video and said, “Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Ustad Zakir Hussain sahab.” However, according to Vishwas.news, who has found the full video of this on Youtube, the person on the tabla is Ustad Tari Khan. The title of this video on Youtube reads, “Ustad Tari Khan and Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan live in Washington DC.”
Before beginning to sing, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is also seen introducing the tabla player in this video. There must have been confusion as Ustad Tari Khan does have some resemblance to Ustad Zakir Hussain.

A Pakistani reporter Ani Faisal has also confirmed to this portal that the person in the viral video is Tari Khan.
Meanwhile, Zakir Hussain’s funeral took place on Thursday in San Francisco. Tt was attended by his near and dear ones, and many renowned musicians. Drummer Anandan Sivamani, along with some other musicians, paid a musical tribute to the late artist.
