Gal Gadot’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Tuesday was disrupted by pro-Palestinian protesters, leading to delays and a police response. Despite the tensions outside, the Israeli actress made no mention of Gaza or Israel’s actions against Palestinians during her speech.

Ahead of the event, demonstrators gathered near the El Capitan Theatre, with pro-Palestinian activists holding signs reading “Heroes Fight Like Palestinians” and “No Other Land Won Oscar,” referencing the recent Academy Award-winning documentary about Israeli incursions into Palestinian territories. Protesters chanted, “Shame on Gal Gadot,” while others called for an end to U.S. financial support for Israel. A smaller group of pro-Israeli demonstrators also attended.

A confrontation broke out when an Israeli flag was allegedly snatched from an attendee, prompting a chase through the crowd. Video footage showed a person running down Hollywood Boulevard before being apprehended by two individuals. Police intervened, pushing those involved against a wall. The LAPD later confirmed there were no arrests, describing the incident as a “crowd control” measure.

Gadot, who has been an outspoken supporter of Israel and previously served in the Israeli military, avoided addressing the protests in her remarks. Instead, she spoke about her career and gratitude for the recognition, saying, “I am all about humanity.” She focused on her aspirations as an actress, including her desire to take on roles in Hebrew, her native language.

The Wonder Woman star has faced increased scrutiny in recent months for her vocal support of Israel following the October 7 attacks. At a recent Anti-Defamation League summit, she condemned pro-Palestinian demonstrations, stating, “Never did I imagine that people would not condemn Hamas but celebrate a massacre of Jews.”

More than 400 Palestinians have been killed and hundreds injured in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. The bombardment, the deadliest since the war began 17 months ago, shattered a ceasefire that had been in place since January 19. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who ordered the strikes after ceasefire negotiations collapsed, warned that the attacks were “just the beginning.” The White House voiced support for Israel’s actions.

Despite the controversy, the ceremony proceeded, with director Patty Jenkins and Fast & Furious co-star Vin Diesel honoring Gadot. She was joined by her husband and children for the unveiling of her star.
