The State government is committed to completing all the projects allocated for the Kuttanad region, Fisheries Minister Saji Cherian has said.

He was inaugurating Kuttanad taluk Karuthalum Kaithangum complaint redressal adalat at M.S. Swaminathan Rice Research Station, Mankombu on Monday.

Mr. Cherian said that Kuttanad was the Assembly constituency where the government had provided the most funding over the past eight years.

”The State government is giving special consideration to Kuttanad. The development issues of Kuttanad have been reviewed in two phases by two Ministers from the district. The government has allocated funds for bridges, roads, hospitals, drinking water projects and the Kuttanad package. It has brought significant changes in the constituency. Despite the economic crisis, the government has decided to allocate necessary funds to complete the projects approved for Kuttanad,” the Minister said.

He said the government was committed to the welfare of people along with ensuring development. “The government is giving due consideration to addressing the grievances of the people. People are finding succour in adalats. The greatest success of adalats is that decisions, which officials may not be able to make, can be made by Ministers,” Mr. Cherian said.

The government is adopting various measures to resolve the problems of people. If rules and guidelines hinder the resolution of any issues, the government is ready to amend them, the Minister added.

Priority ration cards were distributed to 23 beneficiaries at the inaugural function. After the inaugural function, Mr. Cherian and Agriculture Minister P. Prasad directly considered complaints at the adalat. Of the total 417 complaints received at the adalat, 289 have been settled.
