Air India has formally acknowledged the preliminary findings released by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) on Saturday regarding the tragic crash of flight AI171 in Ahmedabad.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the airline reiterated its commitment to fully cooperating with regulators and extended condolences to those affected.

“We stand in solidarity with the families and those affected by the AI171 accident. We continue to mourn the loss and are fully committed to providing support during this difficult time,” the airline said.

Air India emphasised its continued coordination with the AAIB and other stakeholders as the investigation progresses.

“We acknowledge receipt of the preliminary report released by the AAIB today. Air India is working closely with stakeholders, including regulators. We continue to fully cooperate with the AAIB and other authorities as their investigation progresses,” the statement added.

Given the ongoing nature of the investigation, Air India declined to comment on specific details and urged that media and public queries be directed to the AAIB.

The preliminary report is a key step toward uncovering the causes of the AI171 crash, which has raised serious safety and operational concerns across India’s aviation sector.

The London-bound Air India flight, carrying 242 passengers, crashed shortly after takeoff into a residential area of Ahmedabad on June 12. All but one passenger died, along with 19 people on the ground.
