To improve employment opportunities for the youth in Andhra Pradesh, software major Infosys has come forward to provide technical support for the State’s touted to be the first-ever-in-the-country skill census programme.
Infosys will provide a digital platform powered by generative AI for pre-validation of candidate’s skills as part of the skill census initiative, without any financial involvement. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed between the officials of Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and representatives of Infosys, in the presence of the Minister for Human Resource Development and IT Nara Lokesh on Friday (December 10).
Minister Lokesh said Infosys’ proactive initiative under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) was commendable and that it would facilitate assessment of current skills among the State’s youth making it easier to provide skill development training in line with market demands. He said the initiative was part of a mission to provide 2 million job opportunities to youth in Andhra Pradesh in the next five years.
As part of the collaboration, Infosys will develop a digital platform for skill pre-validation of the 15-59 age group of 3.59 crore individuals in Andhra Pradesh. Under this, a comprehensive evaluation of the required skills across various industries would be carried out and current skill levels of the candidates would be assessed and recommendations for further development would be provided.
The Infosys Springboard platform would connect aspirants to the learning pathways, offer free line courses and workshops for continuous skill development and facilitate training aligned with assessed skills and career aspirations of the candidates. Integrating advanced technology, the initiative will facilitate transparent data-driven evaluations to track progress and outcomes and align with the State’s target to provide 20 lakh jobs over the next five years.
Minister Lokesh lauded Infosys’ role of offering its assistance without any financial interests and said the initiative would empower the youth in the State.
Secretary, Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Kona Sashidhar, senior officials of the APSSDC Ganesh Kumar, Dinesh Kumar and Raghu and representatives of Infosys Santosh and Tirumala were present on the occasion.
