Jitendra S. Jadhav, Assistant Director of India Tourism, Mumbai, Union Ministry of Tourism, visited Thanjavur Maharaja Serfoji’s Sarasvati Mahal Library and Thanjavur Palace on Friday.
According to sources, Mr. Jadhav, accompanied by Pratap Sinh Serfoji Raje Bhosale of the royal family and library officials, was impressed by the audio visual show at the library. Several age-old artefacts, including a stylus, a pen knife, map of India published in 1788 AD, and a manuscript associated with Krishnadevaraya were showcased to him.
Commending the efforts put in by the library administration in preserving the collection of historical manuscripts and books, the Assistant Director felt that a large collection of manuscripts should be preserved and made available online.
A book on history of Sarasvati Mahal Library was presented to the Assistant Director by Pratap Singh Serfoji Raje Bhosale.
