India’s Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Capability Development and Sustenance) Lieutenant General Rahul R Singh, on Friday, announced that China had given “all possible support,” including live operational feedback, to Pakistan during India’s recent military operation, “Operation Sindoor.” He also pointed out a big role played by Turkey in supporting Pakistan.
Addressing the ‘New Age Military Technologies’ seminar organized by FICCI in New Delhi, Lt Gen Singh emphasized the daunting challenges that India was confronted with, pointing out the existence of “one border and two enemies, actually three,” with Pakistan leading the pack, and China and Turkey supporting them.
“81% of the military equipment with Pakistan is Chinese. China can test weapons with other weapons, so it’s like a live laboratory open to them,” Lt Gen Singh said, explaining the strategic benefit Beijing derives from its military partnership with Islamabad.

In a particularly eye-opening statement, the Deputy COAS remarked, “While the DGMO-level discussions were happening, Pakistan was receiving live updates on our key vectors from China.” This hinted at a real-time intelligence-sharing setup between Beijing and Islamabad during the conflict. He also acknowledged Turkey’s role, noting the supply of “Bayraktar and several other drones” to Pakistan.
Operation Sindoor, which kicked off on May 7, 2025, was a carefully coordinated response from India’s tri-services to the horrific Pahalgam terror attack that took the lives of 26 civilians on April 22, 2025.
Lt Gen Singh stressed the urgent need for India to enhance its air defense capabilities. “Air Defense and how it unfolded throughout the operation was crucial… This time, we didn’t quite address our population centers, but next time, we must be ready for that. We need a strong air defense system,” he cautioned, signaling possible future threats.
He praised the Indian Armed Forces for their precise strikes on terror infrastructure and elaborated on the strategic planning that guided Operation Sindoor. “The strategic messaging from our leadership was clear… We can’t afford to absorb the pain like we did a few years back,” he asserted, highlighting a significant shift in India’s approach to cross-border terrorism.
He explained that the planning and target selection were grounded in thorough data gathered through a mix of cutting-edge technology and human intelligence. “We identified a total of 21 targets, and we decided it was wise to engage with nine of them… It was only on the final day, in the last hour, that we made the call to engage these nine targets,” Lt Gen Singh revealed.
Emphasising the cohesive nature of India’s military response, he added, “We made a deliberate choice to adopt a tri-services approach to send a clear message that we are indeed an integrated force.” He wrapped up by underscoring the strategic importance of managing escalation: “An important aspect of our strategy is to control escalation.”
