Bomb Threat At Hyderabad City Civil Court, Evacuation And Search Operation Underway-OxBig News Network

Panic swept through the City Civil Court in Purani Haveli, located in Hyderabad’s historic district, on Tuesday after an email threat about a bomb triggered an urgent evacuation and a large-scale search operation. As of late afternoon, the search is still in progress, and thankfully, no suspicious devices have been discovered.

The alarming email reached the chief judge of the City Civil Court early Tuesday morning, around 3:15 AM. However, it wasn’t until about 11:00 AM that court officials became aware of it and quickly notified the police.

Once the police were informed, they acted swiftly, halting all court activities and ordering the evacuation of lawyers, judicial officers, and staff. Bomb disposal teams, fire and rescue units, the task force, and local police were all dispatched to the scene without delay.

“We got the information about the threat at 11:30 AM,” a police officer from the Mir Chowk police station shared with indianexpress.com. “The premises have been cleared, and we’re currently searching for any potential bombs. An investigation is also underway to track down the source of the email.”

Various reports suggest that the email claimed RDX-based improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were hidden within the court complex, with some even hinting at a related threat to the Gymkhana Club, warning of a blast there 23 minutes after the court incident. The sender, who identified as a student or former student of Anna University, allegedly mentioned a motive to expose political leaders in Tamil Nadu.

This incident marks the second bomb scare in Hyderabad in recent times. On June 18, Begumpet Airport also received a bomb threat via email, which led to an evacuation and thorough searches that were later confirmed to be a hoax. Authorities are taking the current threat very seriously as the search continues throughout the expansive court complex.
