BRS faults govt.’s ‘rythu samburalu’ after ‘betraying farmers on many promises’-OxBig News Network

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has asked the Congress government to tender an apology to the farming community for their betrayal on many accounts over the last 19 months, instead of celebrating in the name of ‘rythu samburalu’ for implementing the investment support scheme for one out of the three crop seasons during the period.

In a statement, former Minister T. Harish Rao on Tuesday termed the completion of Rythu Bharosa disbursement at ₹6,000 per acre against ₹7,500 per acre as promised in the election manifesto as a trick being played by the government ahead of the local bodies’ elections. He stated that the government had not extended the Rythu Bharosa support to all eligible farmers during 2024-25 Kharif and Rabi seasons.

Now, with an eye on garnering votes the government was celebrating in the name of rythu samburalu. He sought to know from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy why his government was celebrating and whether it was betraying farmers on investment support for two seasons last year, not implementing the same for tenant farmers, not extending ₹12,000 per annum ‘athmeeya bharosa’ to farm workers and whether for denying farm loan waiver to a majority of farmers having outstanding debt in banks.

Further, he pointed out that the government had betrayed farmers by not extending bonus to all crops and limiting it only to fine varieties of paddy, for not implementing Rythu Bima by not paying premium, for arresting farmers at Lagcherla and Rajoli among many other betrayals.

Another former minister S. Niranjan Reddy too criticised the government for celebrating in the name of rythu samburalu by betraying farmers on many promises.
