HYDERABAD
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has decided to boycott the orientation session, organised by the Legislature for members of the Legislative Assembly and Council, from Wednesday.
In a statement, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao said that the Speaker had acted against the privileges of BRS legislators even before the commencement of the session on Monday, and prevented them from entering the premises of the Assembly and Council with the help of the police.
He alleged that the BRS members were arrested by the police only when they tried to highlight the ‘failures’ of the government and raised issues concerning people. Further, he observed that the Speaker was adopting delaying tactics on the disqualification petitions moved by BRS against 10 MLAs, who had defected to the ruling party after getting elected on BRS tickets.
KTR also alleged that the Speaker had ‘stifled’ the voice of BRS in the last session, and did not give BRS members an opportunity to speak when it mattered the most.
As a mark of protest against this ‘biased attitude’ of the Speaker, BRS has decided to boycott the orientation session.
